Movie Review: Paa
Our Pre-Final Exams half-finished yesterday with Environmental Education. And yesterday was also the day when I went to the 89 Cinemas Durgapur to set my eyes on the newly released movie called “PAA”.
The film was really nice. It started with Jaya Bachchan introducing the actors and the crew of the film. According to all the previews, and reviews, the film was supposed to be good and it did live up to my expectation.
The film actually had no such story. But the wise words of Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) makes you laugh very often. Auro’s school and his friends were depicted very well. Auro’s little dance step with his hands over his head, and then at the back and again at the front enthralled us all. The way little Auro received his prize from Amol Arte (Abhishekh Bachchan) was very funny. Auro makes you laugh throughout. Amitabh Bachchan had acted really well.
Other two great actors of the movie were Vidya (Vidya Balan), Auro’s mum; and Bum (Arundhati Nag), Auro’s grandmother. Both acted really well with little Auro. Their talking with Auro often made us giggle butt the next time made us gloomy.
Amol Arte (Abhishekh Bachchan) Auro’s father and a young Member of Parliament hadn’t much to do in the film but he was also good enough in the scenes in which he was seen. His ‘shaking hand ‘ and ‘round and round’ with Vidya at the end in front of sick Auro brought tears in every bodies eyes.
The music of the film starting with ‘Muri Muri Ittefack se” was nice.
At the end it can be said the film was worth watching. Go see it if you haven’t watched it still now. The makeup Amitabh Bachchan was simply awesome. At the beginning it is said “Introducing Amitabh Bachchan” The makeup was so nice it may make you say at the end, “Hey where was Amitabh Bachchan?” But just then you see “Amitabh Bachchan as Auro” written on the screen. Thus the makeup was great.
I finally came out of the theatre with as heavy and big a head as Auro. Good job R. Balki.

Julius Caesar ends

Those who are or were in the ICSE board would know that we have to read a Shakespearean drama for our ICSE English literature paper. For the past few years we had the famous tragedy Julius Caesar. And we are the last batch taking the test on Julius Caesar. Now in our school the whole of the drama is done in Class 10. We just completed the drama today in our school.
Now it is very well known to everybody that when you have to read something for your school examination, you never feel like reading it; but it is some other drama or novel, then you finish it in a day or two. Perhaps it’s because you need to memorize a lot and remember every detail unlike the novel not in syllabus. It was the same for me too.
One year of dragging with the tragedy and ultimately it is done.
I knew nothing of Julius Caesar and ancient
We greatly liked the drama when it started, with lots of fun in the puns, but drama progressed in its way, the politics became more prominent finally resulting in the assassination of Caesar. All such great lectures by Brutus and
And finally it just ended today. But don’t know why I don’t feel like cheering with “Yippee”s. The drama is really a tragic one when all die one by one. The characters of the drama had become more like people we meet everyday rather than just a name. After reading their names for a year has some effect. We feel the loss of some near and dear ones.
It started with Portia’s death-the brave lady who ate fire. Next jolt of sadness comes when dies Cassius who had become superstitious at last and asks or rather orders his slave to kill him. Even the death of the shrewdest conspirator saddens me. Next great death is of course of Marcus Brutus, the educated man who had always been a misfit for the battle. The man who thought about the good of room and loved his books finally dies when he walks over Strato’s sword. The death of this noble saddens us the most.
But finally the drama ends- end of those difficult and ancient words.
School is about to end
Just a few days more for our school life to end. Class 10 is about to end and we will be stepping forward to the next rank of the ladder called Education. The next rank is really the most vital- the Plus 2.
We spent the last eleven years with our friends in my present school. School life of 11 years… this is the longest time one spends in an educational institutions as a student and that time is soon to expire in just about a couple of month’s time. School life can not be forgot which made us a adolescent from a nothing-knowing child. The childhood days are the most enjoyable time of one’s entire, when you spend on hearing tales, playing all sorts of foolish games like lock and key. Huh! The child hood days are not going to return. Once it is gone is gone. I remember a song by the Bengali band Cactus now- "Halud Pakhi"; it almost brings tears to our eyes.
School life is also the most important, you see the same people everybody, your ultimate friends for last 11 years, talk with them, joke with them, and share almost everything. One day even this ends- just what is going to happen with us in a couple of months time. We all will finally separate. The separation begins from this instant. Some will take different subject combinations, some will take different streams and some others will altogether go to new schools. I remember other very good song in this
COLLEGE DAYS
GAURAV
(kab milnge naa jane hum
yaaron fir se sabhi
laut kar ab naa aayege woh masti bhare din kabhi
ho dil ye apna kahe ki ae doston)-2
(i am really gonna miss this place
i am gonna miss my college days)-2
yaad hai woh saare lactures
humne jo bunk kiye the
proxy kaa pakda jaana
ho lafde kya kam kiye the
milke likhna woh journal
or submission last minut par
exams ki woh taiyaari
ho likna woh 3 ghante
or bahar aake woh kehna
saala kya bekar paper set kiya tha yaar
milta FIRst class kabhi yahan
to lagti thi KT kabhi
laut kar ab naa aayege woh masti bhare din kabhi
ho dil ye apna kahe ki ae doston
(i am really gonna miss this place
i am gonna miss my college days)-2
yaad aayege tachers humko dil se humesha
yaad aayega ye campus or iski apni duniya
ho yaad aayega humesha ye aashiyaan
(i am really gonna miss this place
i am gonna miss my college days)-4
Thus again we will be in our own ways with new friends, playing new games, talking more serious things, forgetting the old. Life will simply go on. Thanks to the scientist for inventing the Telephones, and Internet- we can at least keep in touch.
Book Review

Book: Two States: The story of my marriage.
Author: Chetan Bhagat
Publisher: Rupa Co.
Price: Rs 95
The last book that I read was Chetan Bhagat’s Two States. I liked the book very much. It was a great read especially to the youth. It portrays people of
The book has lot of description (most proper to say ‘jokes’) about both the Punjabis and South Indians. The story starts with the campus of IIM Ahmedabad where Krish and Ananya’s love life starts. I liked the phrase ‘testosterone charged- estrogen starved’ very much there. IIMA part ends with the convocation ceremony when everything went wrong between Krish and Ananya’s parents. The part after this was a bit boring, with the two lead characters not meeting much, but it was supplemented the jokes with the jokes about the Punjabis and their great boasting and food habits. It was really great. I could not sop laughing when I read about the “20000 calories” at Pammi aunties place.
The next part was in Chennai where the Indian bankers were well dealt, and the South Indians were real fun. The funniest part was the ‘Illa Illa s’ and when Krish could not decide what was the Banana leaf for- to be eaten, or to wipe his hand. How was he supposed to know that it was for a plate? This part also showed how serious the S. Indians were about studies- preparing for IIT from Class 6 or from 14 years.
The novel also portrays Krish’s father very well- the man who didn’t like his in-laws and was a strict disciplinarian. The man didn’t talk to his son much but ultimately plays the most important part in his son’s marriage after Krish and Ananya’s break up in
The marriage was real fun, specially the Kashi Yatra and the Mickey Mouse case. I just couldn’t stop myself stop laughing and almost rolled off laughing after reading them.
The book was great to read, with all those joking and wise writing. I also gave a fantastic message about the marriages in different states through the speech of Ananya’s father after the marriage. But the greatest part was of course the father-son unity of Krish and his father. The book is worth reading and the Rs 95 is absolutely utilized after reading the book.

Inspired by Pulsar MTV Stunt Mania???

Now for those of you who are big fans of MTV India, you would know that recently MTV ran a show called Pulsar MTV Stunt Mania. As the name suggests it showed really mind blowing bike stunts by the contestants. The stunts performed by the contestants were damn good. Oh! Somebody had to see the boldness of the contestants either while riding inside a burning truck, or jumping into the sea, or on being thrown down from a copter. But the stunt men were trained professionals and were doing the stunts under expert supervision and proper safety requirements.
Now a few weeks ago one of my friends a great fan of Stunt Mania and a speed maniac tried to do a stunt himself. His dress code is ought to be mentioned in this regard. He simply wore a half pant (literally) and a sleeveless T-shirt. He is thin and tall. Now with that attire absolutely with no safety provisions at all he tried to do a stoppie. But one thing that was positive was that he was on a bicycle.
He started riding the bicycle with a great speed. We were watching from quite a distance. He sped up toward us. He was riding on a traffic free steep street and he was coming down the street. He sped up and sped up towards us and he was within yards with us, this was the when he was supposed to jam the front brake. He did apply the brake. But when he had braked the bicycle's front wheel was in a somewhat small pothole or crack on the street. The front brake of the cycle was really good. We had first thought that he wouldn’t be able to do the stunt. But surprisingly the rear wheel did go up. And then……………….
The front wheel apparently stuck in the street crack, with the brake jammed. The rear wheel went up a lot really a lot. When it was about at right angles with the ground, our ‘respected stunt man’ jumped off the bicycle to the front. And then the cycle took a overturn. Thank God the cycle didn’t fall on him. All this happened too quickly for us to react. When apparently we got back our senses we saw blood. The boy's leg was intensely bleeding. We helped him wash his feet. And saw that almost a bit of his flesh had come out. Later he told us that the bleeding was not stopping at all and he had to go for a dressing. He limped through out the durgapuja and is still limping after about a week and a half. He just told me that he would perhaps go for a X-ray soon.
However he learnt a lesson. He was just telling me a few days ago that he was never going to try a stunt any more and he advised us too not to try a stunt ever. He finally learnt to pay importance to the “Do not ever try this at home” message shown during the intervals of the show.

Hurray! Exams ends today.

Yes, finally it's all over. After 13 (or 14) long exams (I have lost count; :( there are so many of them). Yesterday was Mahalaya. Who likes to study when the air of Sharat bathes you and you get to see the shiuli flowers blooming in the backyard and see the different shows the Bengali TV channels about the Durgapuja
